KNOW THE CAUSE
I have a question: Is the World's Greatest Vitamin really what it claims to be? It is supplied by Albion Advanced Nutrition. The promotion looks good and the price is reasonable. Thanks and God bless. A...Mr. Don Lapre runs The Worlds Greatest Vitamin, and apparently he is quite a controversial character. Understand that the worlds great vitamins come from the worlds greatest foods: those that God placed on the earth for us to eat and nurture our bodies with. I still believe that organic foods are the best foods to consume, given our need for better nutrition than most of us get. For those who do not feel that they are eating a nutritionally sound diet, supplementing daily with a good product makes all the difference in the world in their health. Based on what the website www.badbusinessbureau.com says, my choice for a great vitamin supplement would not be Mr. Lapre's. The most comprehensive nutritional supplement I've found is Damage Control, Master Formula (888-396-6696), which is the supplement that I take. I also know and trust ALL-ONE powdered supplements (800-235-5727), but there are many, many reputable supplement companies...if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! : : : : : Q Doug, can you tell me what causes abnormal pap smears? I saw a show quite a while ago that said it was HPV? What is that and how do you reverse it? I have had three in a row and am on six month test repeats. I am a 40 yr old RN in OKC. I also have slightly elevated liver enzymes and high cholesterol. I tried red yeast rice but broke out with a rash. I am also red headed and have been having trouble recently with my face being splotchy red. I think it may be roseacia. Can you help please? Signed, Falling apart at 40!!!, Rita A Abnormal PAP smears can be a result of anything from a cervical infection-caused by bacteria, yeast, or viruses-to an abnormal cytologist. In other words, the person reading the test can make mistakes in reading the Pap smear. In the worst case scenario, a "pre-cancerous" pap smear is diagnosed. Most times, although these "pre-cancerous" Pap smears are treated, they usually do not go on to turn into cancer (Welch, G. Should I be tested for cancer? Maybe not, and here's why University of California Press, March 2004). In addition, yeast and fungal infections in particular can be confused for cancer (Kibbler, 1996). The clincher on this scenario that you present is the elevated liver enzymes-a sign of exposure to aflatoxin or mycotoxins from grains-and high cholesterol, which is also a sign of exposure to fungal toxins (Costantini, 1998). Given all of these seemingly unrelated problems, which are in fact intimately related, I would approach all of them as though a fungus was responsible. If that was the case, I would avoid grains for a period of time, get on some Milk Thistle (an herb that protects the liver) and take some natural antifungals for several weeks. Natural antifungals include Olive leaf extract, Caprylic acid, undecylenic acid, garlic-the list goes on. Instead of falling apart, you'll be reassembling yourself over the next couple of years! : : : : : Q Doug, I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease. Can you give me some insight into what it is and what causes it? Is there hope of reversal of the condition by following your diet? Thank you, Beth A Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an "auto-immune" disease, per conventional medicine. Scientists believe that the immune system has gone awry and has attacked the thyroid gland. Interestingly, at the onset of this thyroiditis (which means "inflammation of the thyroid"), it looks like an infection: the gland is overactive and inflamed! Thereafter, it seems to "burn out" and lead to a low thyroid, for which one must take a thyroid supplement for life. If we would look at the condition as it probably really is-an infection-we might better identify the cause. Fungi and fungal toxins can get into any gland or tissue inside the body, and rarely do doctors ever look for fungi or mycotoxins (fungal poisons) as the cause of any disease. Fungal toxins can enter the body and destroy the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas, leading to type-1 diabetes. Why couldn't they just as easily get into the thyroid and cause destruction there. The fact is, they can! This doesn't change the fact that you'll have to be on a thyroid supplement probably for the rest of your life, but knowing this creates an awareness that perhaps, if we make our children aware of this problem, we can be more careful about reducing their exposure to fungal risk factors: antibiotics, excessive amounts of grains and sugars in the diet, corticosteroid medication, birth control pills, etc. : : : : : Q Dear Doug, my daughter, who just turned 40, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in the colon , as well as a lymph node, close to it, was also cancer of which both were removed. She had a port inserted into her chest and begins chemo for six weeks, followed by radiation for up to eight weeks. Is there anything you can think of that would be of some help? No, she did not use antibiotics, but was forever dieting and taking up to six pills of chromium daily. When M.D.'s were not taking her bloating serious she went to a nutritionist who was initial in finding this cancer condition. I am at my wits end with worry especially since she is five states away! Thank you for your time. You are the best, Doug. A From what it sounds like, the tumor and the affected lymph node were removed. I'm just asking myself this question, but "doesn't that make her cancer-free?" I just wonder why doctors are so aggressive about issuing chemotherapy to a clinically cancer-free person. Years of bloating problems were probably a clue to an underlying fungal or yeast overgrowth. Fungal infections in the colon can mimic colon cancer (Kibbler. 1996), though, again, doctors rarely consider fungi as a cause of anything, including a mass in the colon. If she decides to go through chemotherapy, know that chemotherapy itself is a huge risk factor for the later development of fungal infections in the body (due to the chemotherapy's immune-suppressing effects). That being the case, I would beg my oncologist to keep me on antifungal medications during chemotherapy. I would also change: I'd eat more protein and less sugar (carbs); I'd exercise as much as possible, given the chemotherapy's side effects; I'd begin juicing fresh veggies every single day, and, lastly, I'd pray not just for healing, but for God's will. God knew my start date, and he knows my stop date. If my stop date happens to be in 90 days, I'll miss my family, but I'll take streets of gold over potholes here on earth any day! : : : : : |
