| The S.S. Norway |
The year was 1949, and springtime
would bring with it a new season of sailing on the Great Lakes. Though
the young man had helped to tend the family farm throughout his life, the
farm on Klug Road could only feed so many, so at the age of 17, he knew
he needed to earn his income elsewhere. |
| The Deer Hunt |
The
soft early morning light shone into the front room of the small house silhouetting
an old man in his 60s, a man in his 30s, and a boy of 14. All were wrapped
in blankets and sleeping bags on the living room floor. |
| Fall Season Reaps Harvests |
When the autumn breezes
gently push across the open fields, the fall season will bring us the sights
and sounds that signal the final hurrah of summer. |
| Turning Out Masterpieces |
Whittling
wood as a teenager with his jackknife, Dave Thuemmel, a retired Port Austin
dairy farmer, is living his dream in his woodshop turning wooden bowls
and other wooden objects on his lathe. |
| Small Chests & Cupboards |
Small
antique chests of drawers, little cupboards and pint-sized cabinets in
solid wood are not only elusive, but also costly to purchase when you are
lucky enough to find them. |
| Where in America Are You? |
These rocks, rock. Finally, a place
of spectacular steep-walled, red rock canyons that is virtually unknown
to most people, yet easily accessible. Spanning before you are awe-inspiring
vistas of sandstone sculptures, formed by nature’s artistry. |
