Roger Durbin Sparks WWII Memorial

Almost sixty years later, Harold's buddy, Roger Durbin, would be recognized
nationally for his part in instigating the creation of the World War II memorial
built in Washington D.C. Through his Congresswoman, Durbin fought for years
without fail to nationally recognize World War II veterans. Durbin and his wife
were guests at the White House during the Clinton administration, and Durbin
had the honor of shaking hands with President Bill Clinton. Sadly, Durbin passed
away before the memorial honoring World War II Veterans was dedicated, but Durbin's
family was invited to the dedication on May 29, 2004, to honor their soldier,
along with the many others who had fought for freedom.
