TECHIE TIDBITS
Getting Great Gas Prices
by Darren W. Hood

Technology can be used to address several issues - by practically anyone.

For example, I'm sure that the excessive gasoline prices have taken a bit out of everyone's wallet. Well, MichiganGasPrices.com — a site containing the lowest and highest gas prices in Michigan cities — provides important information for the savvy consumer.

The website includes gasoline prices reported by residents or travelers in a specific geographic area. This example shows the lowest prices reported for two stations in Harbor Beach.

Please note, however, that prices reported are removed after 36 hours. The site also includes a legal disclaimer: They are not responsible for inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or errors and reserve the right to make changes to site content at any time without notice.

While the disclaimer may make some people uneasy, it's actually very realistic. The way prices change, we really can't expect more. From what I've seen thus far, the reports are very helpful and dependable. Want to get the most out of this tremendous resource? You can check the site for the latest reports or you can register and report the findings where you reside or are traveling through.

The site can only be what the contributors and the community help make it to be, so you can consider this a call to action. By reporting prices in your area, you can help make technology work for you and improve your quality of life.

Did you find this information helpful? I certainly hope so and would love to hear from you. Send your questions and/or comments to editor@lakeshoreguardian.com.
