KNOW THE CAUSE!
by Doug Kaufmann
Q…Hi Doug, my name is Barbara and I have been told I have a condition called Pulmonary Hypertension can you help me with this problem.
A…Hi Barbara! Pulmonary means lungs, and hypertension means high blood pressure. According to MedicineNet.com, pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure in the pulmonary artery that conveys blood from the right ventricle to the lungs. The pressure in the pulmonary artery is normally low compared to that in the aorta. Pulmonary hypertension can irrevocably damage the lungs and cause failure of the right ventricle. The same Web site lists the many, many causes for this condition, yet omits one that I think you might consider: mycotoxins. These fungal by-products are known to cause serious health problems and even death. Ironically, because science does not understand the role of these mycotoxins in the disease process, we tend to discount their existence.
If I suffered from pulmonary hypertension, I'd avoid eating mycotoxins. As the good doctor A.V. Costantini points out, they are in many of our food and medicine supply including antibiotics, alcohol and even the commonly eaten grains. You might go to my Web site where I have listed (under FAQ's) this Phase One diet and try it for two weeks.
In two weeks, I'd go back to my doctor and have him determine whether the elevated pressure was now decreased. If it was better, I'd request a prescription for Diflucan 200mg and I'd take one daily for three days, then one every third day thereafter for another month while following this same Phase One diet. Another check with my doctor might reveal that these medical Web sites need to add the most probable cause of pulmonary hypertension is mold and fungus!

Q… Hi! I love Doug and what he stands for and I listen to him every chance I get. I was wondering though what Doug would recommend as far as a 'multiple' (tablet or powder) to take. Mark Sisson seems to have a good one as does so many others that he has on his shows. I am 69, female in pretty good health but not sure which multiple would be good for me. Many thanks for your help. Gerry
A…What a great letter! Thanks, Gerry! As Mark Sisson often says, there are supplements and then there are supplements! My television studio crew all decided to begin taking Mark's Damage Control supplements the first of the year and they love them! Yes, they are expensive, but what is the price for good health? The most popular, inexpensive vitamin brands are often pharmaceutical company owned. From there, for about the same price if not less, you can get Bio Active Nutrients (www.bioactivenutrients.com), Bio-Plus formula (about $16/month).
All One (www.all-one.com) makes a powdered formula that I also like for about $35/month. When you're spending over $100/month, you've gone far beyond vitamin supplementation. Consider Damage Control as the most comprehensive supplement on the market today, quite high-tech and upgraded based on science, not public demand. If you're looking to supplement your diet because you are concerned that your diet is not rich in vitamin and minerals, there are hundreds of good daily vitamin supplements on the market. If, however, you're looking for the world's most comprehensive high potency formula, then you'll want to further investigate www.masterformula.com. Many people believe that they just don't need as much as Damage Control provides. Read their Web site and then decide. Thanks, Gerry!

Q… Dear Doug, I recently came across your show and started watching it, as if something told me I needed to. I was very interested in everything you were talking about. I have been trying to catch it on TV when I can for the last few months. I found out yesterday someone I love with all my heart has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother had the same and passed away after all the horrible treatments she received about three years ago. She is 28, found two lumps about the size of the end of your smallest finger, they were not attached to anything just there. The doctor removed them and sent them for biopsy; they came back and said it was cancer. We find out Wed. the 7th how they plan to treat it. I don't have a lot and I'm scared to death as she is; she watched what her mother endured and wonders if the same laid in store for her. Prayer is constant on my lips, the thought of losing her is intolerable, my heart is broken. Any advice? Words of wisdom? Point me in a direction please, tell me how to help her. Thank you so much for your time, and if you would say a prayer for Katrina. Loren from Raleigh, IL.
A…Loren, I vividly recall the day that the news media broke the story that science had discovered that prayer had a scientific basis in the recovery or healing process! Can you imagine being that bound by science with respect to prayer? I remember thinking, "Whew! Now it's OK to pray because a medical school said so!" I trust that all of our readers join me in keeping Katrina in our thoughts and prayers. God gave us brains and filled that brain with free will. After having watched her mother suffer so terribly, she undoubtedly is thinking of approaching this in a different way and I commend her for that.
As far as advancements in cancer, she needs to know that there has been one recently that the medical community has turned their back on, but that I feel is revolutionary. Please have her go to the Web site of oncologist Tullio Simoncini, MD (www.cancerisafungus.com) and begin educating herself. Both Dr. A.V. Costantini (whom you read a lot about in my columns) and Dr. Simoncini share their beliefs that fungus is behind this cancer epidemic we are witnessing throughout the world. Of course, I have published in this area and have been rather outspoken that cancer and many other diseases involved an opportunistic fungal germ. Loren, please help her with this study and don't let her become blinded by one therapy, including those that Dr. Simoncini and I recommend. Nor should she blindly go forth with the exact recommendations that the doctors made to her mother. I have told countless cancer patients that I can assist them in changing their diets, changing their supplements, even sometimes changing doctors, but there is one thing I cannot change for them: God's will. I am just completing an article for our new Web site called "If I had cancer." This article may help her make some decisions, but ultimately her free will should provide many answers. I wish so often that we men had the same intuition that women had! Readers, I need your help here!

Q… For Doug Kaufmann. Has there been a lowering of cases of cancer in statin drug users? Is fresh corn on cob safe from fungus? William
A…William, GREAT questions! Statin drugs are used to lower cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Researchers are now finding that they apparently have many uses in addition to just lowering blood fats. Cancer prevention, minimizing Alzheimer's Disease and even preventing heart attacks, to name a few, are purported benefits of taking statin drugs. Sounds uncomfortably familiar, doesn't it?
How soon we forget the hundreds of thousands of women, many of whom were injured or simply aren't here today because they took hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drugs that were reported at the time to prevent cancer and heart disease! How soon we forget, but since we apparently have, along comes yet another chemical that medical researchers are promoting as "breakthrough!" PLEASE be prudent consumers! I believe that diet, exercise and supplements do much more to prevent disease than drug company products.
William, your question fascinates me because recently the cancer folks have been promoting their success in reducing the incidence and death rates of certain cancers. They contend that their early detection methods and better drugs and therapies are the reason.
But, since statin drugs are antifungal, and I contend that cancer is caused by fungus, this gets interesting! Do you suppose that the reason we're finally noticing some success with reversing the dangerous trends in cancer is because millions of Americans are now swallowing antifungal pills?
I am not a physician, but if I were, I would follow the Hippocratic Oath that I took following medical school. I would use dietary measures and not deadly drugs to assist my patients in their health care needs. Having said this, I believe that the judicious use of pharmaceutical drugs is, on occasion, lifesaving. If you eat the standard American diet (SAD!!!), and live a sedentary lifestyle, I believe you run a higher risk of needing drugs. Many times, it boils down to you, not the prescribing doctor, yet we tend to blame
them.
According to Ruth Etzell. PhD, M.D. who published in the Journal of The American Medical Association (JAMA) in January 2002, corn is "universally contaminated" with fungal poison. The seeds that became that fresh corn on the cob may have been impregnated with fungus! BE CAREFUL!
