Readers Write

Writer’s Note: I wanted to express my appreciation to all those who took the time to comment over the past few months, sharing their excitement and intrigue regarding the current Sparling yarn. Stories are filled with interesting connections. Following is one comment I received via e-mail from a reader who studied the auction sale flyer featuring the farm auction in 1911 when Carrie Sparling decided it was time to move on:

Janis, I just read the article in The Lakeshore Guardian called Yarns. After I read the (Sparling Murders) article, I noticed the name of the auctioneer. He was my Great Uncle Jim. He was born in Gateshead, England. He was my Grandmother Cripps's oldest brother.

Just a tidbit.

Guardian Staff:

I really like the expansion of your newspaper in the “Guarding Your Health” section. April's issue has a lot of great information. Good job Lakeshore Guardian!

It is wonderful that The Lakeshore Guardian is educating its readers to be aware of their health. Consumers are becoming more concerned about what they eat and eating healthy. In my own experience as a mom, I have learned personally the importance of using both hygiene and cleaning products that are not only toxin-free but environmentally friendly for my family. For the safety of my family, I had to become aware of what I was using and what is in it. My daughter currently has a seizure disorder that is at times unexplainable, but doctors recommend medication. As a mom, I always have questioned the exposure of our environment inside and outside of the home that could remedy this disorder.

Consumers need to use safe and healthy home and personal care products for themselves and their family hand in hand with eating healthy. I already knew it made sense to put healthy food in my body. Do your homework. I learned to read labels on all products – not just food products. Keep yourself and your family safe and healthy.

I look forward to next month’s issue. Keep up the good work Lakeshore Guardian!

Cynthia
