WHERE IN THE WORLD
by Randy Karr
Made in France, like her famous older sister in New York City, this Asian City has its very own Statue of Liberty. The first Statue of Liberty came here in 1998, on loan from France. It was sent to serve as a temporary attraction for a yearlong festival commemorating the French years in this East Asian country. After it was sent back to Paris, a second Statue of Liberty arrived in 2000. Also made in France, it was placed along the shoreline of Odaiba, a large artificial island that is a popular urban getaway, with a Southern California atmosphere.

From an observation deck, there are stunning views of Rainbow Bridge, so named because it is decorated with 444 lights that change color according to the seasons. Beyond the bridge, you can see some of the tallest buildings in Nippon, the native name of this country. Its capital city serves as the corporate and communications hub for the East Pacific Rim and is part of the world's most populated metropolitan area, one with over 28,000,000 people. Where in the world are you, anyway? Name this country, which is about the size of California, and its capital city, which boasts a tower that is the spitting image of the Eiffel Tower, but 30 feet taller.
