KNOW THE CAUSE
by Doug Kaufmann

Doug KaufmannQ…Dear Doug, One of my healthcare advisors believes that because I ate peanuts several days a week on the hot lunch program when I was in grade school, that I might still have some effects from it. I'm 63 now. Can you recommend something for combating fungus remains from peanuts? If so, I would appreciate your help. Thank you, Bill

A...Bill, of course I contend that your healthcare provider is absolutely correct! Peanuts and corn are two commonly eaten foods that are often contaminated with poisonous fungal byproducts called mycotoxins. Many antibiotics are also mycotoxins, and I've long contended that the damage done by these chemicals remains long after the food or pill has been digested.

Without knowing what your symptoms are, I'd request a prescription for DIFLUCAN 200mg and NYSTATIN 500,000 Units from your doctor. Diflucan kills fungus in your bloodstream and organs, while Nystatin kills it in your stomach, where much of your immune system is. While taking these two antifungal drugs, I'd also carefully follow a grain free, low carbohydrate diet like our Phase One Diet.

Within four weeks, if your symptoms ease, you may be on the road to recovery. How long this process takes is generally dictated by how severely you have a fungal infestation. Hope this helps!

Q…Hi Doug, I have been working on my health for 23 plus years. I am a cancer survivor; and I have many other things, headaches, stomach problems, etc. However, in spite of it all I still have a large stomach . . . Any suggestions? Rosemarie

A...Hopefully, the large stomach is not caused by tumor growth, rather a simple weight condition. The agriculture industry learned in the 1950s that feeding prophylactic antibiotics to cattle made them fat. Of course, we now know that antibiotics are considered growth promoters. And we wonder why we have become an obese country! Often physicians indiscriminately prescribe antibiotics without confirming a bacterial condition. Unfortunately, few know that the damage that these medications can cause their patients.

First, get to your doctor and rule out that this "large stomach" is anything but swelling caused by weight gain. Then, given that your existing stomach problems might be due to antibiotics and you also want to lose weight, I'd either get your doctor to prescribe Nystatin (see above question) and begin taking probiotics (health food store) while simultaneously following our Phase One Diet, or try natural antifungal supplements along with the probiotics and diet. John, my producer for the past several years, has lost about 120 pounds while following this program. You'll get to meet him when we come to Harbor Beach on the 10th of this month!

Most weight loss programs rely on teaching you that you need them. You see these advertised all the time. From renewable supplements required by their programs, to specialty "micro-foods," unless you continue paying these companies, your weight loss stops. This is why so many fail. The antifungal approach not only empowers you but enables you to turn the volume up for additional weight loss, or down if you've accomplished your goal.

Q…Dear Doug, I've taken antibiotics and penicillin for a lot for different infections that I get. After I am done with the dose, I take probiotics and eat lots of garlic and other healthy things. I am scared of cancer. Please let me know if I am doing the right things or tell me what else I should do. Josie from Lincoln, Nebraska

A...Josie, fear alone contributes to decreased immunity, so shake that off immediately! As far as your concern about antibiotic intake and its potential contribution to cancer, know that I, too, took many antibiotics in decades past. The probiotics you've taken have probably helped minimize the damage caused by the antibiotics. I do not believe in longevity. Rather, I believe in QUALITY longevity! I don't want to be diagnosed with cancer and then live another 40 years while regularly taking pills and visiting doctors. I know and accept that I will die one day. I'm betting, based on the knowledge I currently have, that the program I follow (exercise, supplements and diet) will enable me to live a long, healthy life. One of my favorite references in the Bible is difficult for me to comprehend while here on earth, but it eases my fear of dying: To die is to gain.

In 1988, musician Bobby McFerrin wrote a song that I live my life by today and I'd suggest you give it a try also. The title? Don't Worry, Be Happy!
