KNOW THE CAUSE
by Doug Kaufmann

Doug KaufmannQ…Dearest Doug, I was diagnosed eight years ago with type two diabetes. I also believe it is caused by a virus. I am taking an Omega 3 complex with Borage, Safflower, Flaxseed, 6 and 9 oils and now they have added Black Currant to the new bottles and removed the Borage. My question for you is: Which of the supplements do I begin with? Olive Leaf, Beta Glucan, CoQ10? I do not know where to start. Thank you, for all you do and are doing. Debora

A…Thanks for the inquiry, Debora! Not many know my belief that diabetes may, in many individuals, be a mold problem. Fungi make poisons called “mycotoxins” and one called “streptozotocin” actually causes cancer in laboratory animals. Mice don’t seem to get diabetes, so laboratory technicians inject them several times with tiny doses of this vegetable tuber mold. Since fatty acids like those you referenced are great anti-mold products I love the approach you are taking. Olive leaf extract kills all germs and beta glucan modulates immunity in humans. Remember that most Type 2 diabetics have LIFESTYLE diseases and are unaware that unknowingly, they have chosen to have diabetes. Exercise, proper diet (antifungal) and supplementation as you have described (diet being the most important in my opinion) might just have your blood sugar levels resuming normalcy before too long.

Q…Dear Dr. Kaufmann: I have read online that taking Diflucan during or after will not prevent/cure a yeast infection. I had a culture test positive for MRSA and was put on Bactrim for two weeks. I always get a yeast infection with an antibiotic. The doctor told me to take it as soon as I feel symptoms. Will this only make the yeast more resistant because it has mutated? I am taking a probiotic every day, but I can assure you, I will get a yeast infection anyway. Is there a right time to take the Diflucan? Your thoughts are appreciated. Sincerely, Cara

A…Cara, let me preface this response by admitting that I am not a physician, although I play a heck of one on TV! Many women get vaginal yeast infections when taking antibiotics, and it is my guess that many men get prostatitis from them also. I’ve always believed that people who get this adverse effect from antibiotics are on “full” with mold and even a tiny bit more (antibiotics) cause irritation, symptoms or worse. Further, although physicians and researchers have never documented this to the best of my knowledge, I believe that people who are allergic to antibiotics are really on “full” also and more antibiotics can be life threatening. Ironically, Pfizer developed the antifungal drug DIFLUCAN as a medication for AIDS (so what must cause AIDS?), but soon it became the “one pill vaginal yeast cure.” It seems to work well. Cara, skin fungal infections are well documented and some women may get these from their husbands, making sensitive tissues more vulnerable to yeast infections when mold is consumed (antibiotics). Consider preventing transmission if this might be the case.

Q…Dear Doug, I need your help in going about helping children that are suffering from skin disorders, digestive problems, learning disabilities and last but not least, autism. Thank you, Maria

A…Maria, what a breath of fresh air you are! Where was autism when we were children? I don’t think it existed and maybe this is why: Most doctors don’t know this, but their Physicians Desk References (PDR) does. The antibiotic drug, Amoxicillin, given to tens of millions of children has a nasty side effect called “hyperactivity.” I know that I’m not responding directly to your question, but I think you’re beginning to read through the lines. If brain chemistry becomes so mixed up in many children who have swallowed this one antibiotic, what about the thousands of other antibiotics? Could these medications somehow cause electrical circuitry to go awry? The answer is “YES!”
